Qatar and Egypt have pledged to bolster their bilateral relations, focusing on expanding cooperation in various sectors, including economic, investment, and labor. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting took place in Cairo on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
The discussions highlighted the impressive growth in trade between the two nations, which saw an 80 percent increase by 2025. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the expanding economic ties, particularly noting the significant Qatari investments in Egypt. Among these investments is a notable project aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which marks a critical step in enhancing Egypt’s industrial capabilities.
In addition to economic collaboration, the officials addressed labor and consular cooperation, reinforcing the necessity of these partnerships. They also exchanged views on regional developments, emphasizing the need to reduce tensions and bolster stability in the region. Maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea were also major points of discussion. Both Qatar and Egypt stressed the importance of safeguarding these vital waterways to ensure the protection of international trade routes and regional stability.
