Vietnam and Qatar celebrated the growing ties between their nations during Vietnam’s National Day event in Doha, underscoring a deepening partnership that spans multiple sectors. The celebration, marking Vietnam’s 81st National Day, was attended by senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, highlighting the importance both countries place on dialogue and international cooperation.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, emphasized the progress Vietnam has made in its bilateral relationships, particularly with Qatar. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, both countries have seen their cooperation flourish across various industries, including trade, investment, energy, and aviation.
The economic relationship between Vietnam and Qatar has notably expanded, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This growth is reflected in increasing business engagement and investment opportunities, as both nations look to strengthen their economic ties further.
High-level exchanges have been a significant factor in fostering this partnership. Notably, Qatar’s Prime Minister visited Vietnam in October 2024, a move that both sides hope will pave the way for even greater collaboration. Discussions during such exchanges often center on expanding economic partnerships and exploring new areas of mutual interest.
As Vietnam and Qatar continue to build on their longstanding relationship, the focus remains on enhancing cooperation in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications. This strategic expansion not only benefits both countries economically but also contributes to regional stability and development.
