Qatar took part in the 89th Gulf Health Council meeting and the 12th GCC Health Ministers’ Committee meeting in Manama, Bahrain, on Sunday. The country’s delegation was led by Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud. These gatherings aimed to bolster cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the health sector.
During the meetings, officials examined the Gulf Health Council’s budget for 2027 and discussed several planned initiatives. They also reviewed the council’s action plan for 2026–2030. Strategic decisions concerning the storage of food, medicines, and other essential supplies were key topics on the agenda, along with health examinations for expatriate workers.
Another significant topic was the Gulf Strategy for Combating Drugs, covering the years 2025–2028. Plans for establishing a Gulf Centre for Food Risk Assessment were also considered, showcasing the region’s commitment to addressing health-related challenges.
Additionally, officials assessed the progress of decisions made at the previous GCC Health Ministers’ Committee meeting. This assessment reflects a continuous effort to advance regional health initiatives and ensure the well-being of populations across the GCC countries.
