Qatar and Saudi Arabia are taking significant steps to enhance their economic and trade relations through the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. Senior officials from both nations recently convened to review progress on joint initiatives and discuss strategies to boost bilateral trade, support private-sector enterprises, and strengthen economic integration.

In 2025, trade between Qatar and Saudi Arabia amounted to approximately $1.98 billion, marking a 36 percent increase compared to the previous year. This positive trend continued into the first quarter of 2026, with bilateral trade growing by around 18 percent, surpassing the countries’ 15 percent target. Notably, Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia reached over $1.42 billion, and more than 977 Saudi companies are now operating in Qatar.

The discussions included efforts to streamline import and export procedures, bolster small and medium-sized enterprises, enhance supply-chain integration, and expand financial cooperation. Both sides also considered measures to overcome trade barriers, facilitating easier operations for companies in both markets.

Additionally, preparations are underway for launching a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy. This strategy aims to set priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the next phase of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Both Qatar and Saudi Arabia emphasized the importance of completing agreed-upon initiatives and addressing remaining trade challenges to further promote economic and industrial integration. This collaborative approach underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their economic ties and drive mutual growth.
