Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QatarEnergy President and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, has urged the international community to prioritize energy security over political conflicts. Speaking at the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh, Al Kaabi emphasized the need for a global framework that isolates energy supplies from political disputes and safeguards energy infrastructure against conflicts.

Al Kaabi highlighted the severe global energy crisis triggered by ongoing regional conflicts, which have disrupted the flow of approximately 20 percent of the world’s hydrocarbon supplies. This disruption, he noted, has resulted in billions of dollars in damages due to attacks on energy infrastructure, contributing to increased volatility in international markets.

During the meeting, Al Kaabi expressed Qatar’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and underscored the importance of international cooperation to maintain energy security. He stressed that energy security is intimately connected to geopolitical stability and is crucial for the global economy. Al Kaabi called for enhanced international efforts to protect energy assets, strengthen supply chains, and ensure reliable energy supplies amidst rising regional tensions.

The forum in Riyadh brought together energy ministers, government representatives, industry leaders, and international organizations to discuss key issues such as energy security, supply chain resilience, and the evolving dynamics of global energy demand and supply.
