US Vice President JD Vance has alleged that some Israeli government officials attempted to sway American public opinion against a US-endorsed agreement designed to resolve the conflict with Iran. In a recent podcast interview, Vance expressed his belief that these Israeli figures were keen on continuing military actions and aimed to influence US political sentiment against the pact. He acknowledged that while many nations try to impact American policy, such interventions become troubling when they start to shape US decision-making.
Vance stood by the agreement, which was finalized last month, highlighting its role in concluding hostilities with Iran and curbing Israel’s military activities involving Hezbollah in Lebanon. He asserted that the deal was in line with US strategic interests and highlighted the necessity of maintaining autonomy in foreign policy decisions.
Previously, Vance had criticized Israel for its opposition to the Iran accord. Despite these remarks, the White House clarified that President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance share a unified stance on the administration’s current strategy regarding the conflict.
At the time of publication, Israeli officials had not issued a public response to Vance’s comments.
