Qatar has expressed approval of the Netherlands and Belgium’s recent decisions to prohibit the import of goods produced in Israeli settlements. This move is seen by Qatar as a significant development in efforts to address settlement activities within the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement highlighting that these bans align with international endeavors to curb the expansion of settlements, which are viewed as violations of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334. The ministry underscored the importance of such actions in maintaining international legal standards.

In its statement, Qatar also voiced its hope that other nations would follow suit in adopting similar measures. It urged the global community to meet its legal and moral obligations by pressing Israel to cease its settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, emphasizing the broader implications for peace and stability in the region.

Reaffirming its enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause, Qatar reiterated its support for a two-state solution. This solution is envisioned to be based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as the capital of a future independent Palestinian state, which remains a cornerstone of Qatar’s foreign policy regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
