In a bid to strengthen bilateral relations, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaged in high-level talks with Qatar’s leadership in Doha. The meetings, held with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, focused on fortifying the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Qatar. The discussions underscored Türkiye’s unwavering support for Qatar, exploring ways to deepen cooperation in several key areas.

Both nations expressed their commitment to expanding collaboration in defense, trade, connectivity, energy security, and regional diplomacy. These conversations are part of the broader objective to enhance ties and create new avenues for cooperation. The officials also laid groundwork for the upcoming 12th Türkiye-Qatar High Strategic Committee meeting set to take place in Türkiye later this year, an event aimed at further solidifying the partnership between the two countries.

A significant portion of the discussions was dedicated to addressing regional issues. The leaders shared perspectives on promoting dialogue to ease regional tensions and ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route. Additionally, they exchanged views on the situation in Gaza, aligning their efforts to support ongoing peace initiatives in the region.

As Türkiye and Qatar continue to cultivate a robust partnership, both countries are keen on increasing bilateral trade and enhancing cooperation across various sectors. The meetings in Doha represent a strategic step towards achieving these goals, with both sides reaffirming their dedication to working closely on mutual interests and regional stability.
